What is IPL?
IPL (intense pulsed light) is a revolutionary treatment for skin and eyelid inflammation which, in many cases, is the root cause of dry eye. With the IPL technology, light pulses penetrate the tissue and create heat, targeting the abnormal vessels that are the root cause of the inflammation.
IPL technology stimulates the function of the meibomian glands in the eyelid that help produce the oil that is necessary for your tears to lubricate the eye. This natural light-based therapy treats your skin and eyelid inflammation resulting in overall relief of your dry eye symptoms while improving overall skin appearance.
Did you know? Over 85% of skin and eyelid inflammation patients also suffer from inflammatory ocular conditions, such as dry eye.

What to expect?
IPL treatment is an outpatient procedure that requires no anesthesia or sedation. Skin and eyelid inflammation can be relieved within as few as 1-2 treatments. Typically, the treatment for dry eye includes just four sessions. Once an IPL session is complete, you will be able to return to your normal schedule with little to no downtime. Following the full treatment session, you will have another consultation with our dry eye specialist to review your maintenance plan for optimal long-term results.
